Memory Blade Moveset: Update 1
A first but very early build of the combat phrases of the Memory Blade.
The Memory Blade is the first weapon the player gets introduced to. Ever played DMC or the 3D Zelda games? Well if you do you’ll feel the familiarity while playing. I took inspiration of the stylish combat animations of The Wind Waker while crossing it with the VFX of the DMC series. The result is snappy! You got your light attack combos, heavy attack combos, variation of these two and an air launcher with its dedicated aerial combo phrases:
The light attack has 5 phrases
The heavy attack has 3 phrases
The variation has 4 phrases
The aerial has 6 phrases with another heavy attack going back to the ground
The abilities on the right are still WIP and cannot be used yet, but the Memory Blade will have four distinctive abilities that can be cast (and later upgraded via the skill tree) plus a special attack.
Now how does it look like when actually using it to hit enemies? I’ve got some dummies prepped for this demonstration in a video.
You may have noticed that I also built a perfect dodge system! I really liked that in games such as Bayonetta or BotW, so naturally I wanted to build one that fits the moveset of the Memory Blade. You can either light attack counter or heavy attack counter after a perfect dodge. In the future, all the different weapons will have their own set of counters.
